     Talbot Cheyne was born, 14 November 1828, in Dublin, Ireland. His date of birth and parentage was documented in A. Y. Cheyne, The Cheyne Family in Scotland, on page 145. He was probably named after Lord Talbot, the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, who appointed his father to the position of Physician-General of the Army in Ireland.1,2,3

Charles Cheyne, Sarah Louisa Cheyne, Thomas Middleton Cheyne and Talbot Cheyne they were in the household of their sister, Margaret Cheyne, on the 1841 Isle of Man Census, in Malew Parish, Isle of Man. He was 12 years old and born in Ireland.3

Talbot Cheyne was in the household of Samuel Wilson Block and his wife, Elizabeth Block, and listed as brother-in-law on the 1851 England Census, in East Barnet, Hertford, England. He was 22, single, a solicitor's clerk and born in Ireland.4

Talbot Cheyne died 21 December 1856 in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia. His death was registered in Victoria during the year of 1858. He was 28 years of age at death. His parents were confirmed to have been as recorded herein. He was born in Dublin.2,5

The will of Talbot Cheyne was proved in London on the fifth of May 1858. His effects were listed as under £800. His brother, Charles, was the grantee. The abstract of the will reads: "Cheyne, Talbot (effects under £800) Letters of Administration of the personal estate and effects of Talbot Cheyne late of the City of Melbourne in Australia Solicitor Bachelor deceased who died on or about 21 December 1856 at Castlemaine in Australia were granted at the Principal Registry to Charles Cheyne of 34 Great George Street Westminster in the county of Middlesex Civil Engineer the brother and one of the Next of Kin of the said Deceased he having been first sworn". [N.B.--This letter of administration will be revoked later in the same year.]6

His estate was probated on 31 December 1858.7
