     Charles Cheyne was born, 17 March 1822, in Ireland. He was documented in A. Y. Cheyne, The Cheyne Family in Scotland, on pages 145-146.1,2

Charles Cheyne married Eugenia Bredin.3

Charles Cheyne, Sarah Louisa Cheyne, Thomas Middleton Cheyne and Talbot Cheyne they were in the household of their sister, Margaret Cheyne, on the 1841 Isle of Man Census, in Malew Parish, Isle of Man. He was 18 years old and born in Ireland.2

Charles Cheyne was an engineer and joined the Public Works Department of India, he worked on the construction of the Nerbuddah Bridge.

The will of Talbot Cheyne was proved in London on the fifth of May 1858. His effects were listed as under £800. His brother, Charles, was the grantee. The abstract of the will reads: "Cheyne, Talbot (effects under £800) Letters of Administration of the personal estate and effects of Talbot Cheyne late of the City of Melbourne in Australia Solicitor Bachelor deceased who died on or about 21 December 1856 at Castlemaine in Australia were granted at the Principal Registry to Charles Cheyne of 34 Great George Street Westminster in the county of Middlesex Civil Engineer the brother and one of the Next of Kin of the said Deceased he having been first sworn". [N.B.--This letter of administration will be revoked later in the same year.]4

Charles Cheyne was granted the probate of the estate of the deceased, Talbot Cheyne, 31 December 1858. The will of Talbot Cheyne was re-proved 31 December 1858. An abstract of which reads: "Cheyne Talbot. Effects under £800. 31 December. Letters od Administration (with the Will annexed) of the Personal estate and effects of Talbot Cheyne formerly of Ashton-under-Lyne in the County of Lancaster but late of the City of Melbourne in Australia deceased who died 21 December 1856 at Castlemaine in Australia were granted at the Principal Registry to Charles Cheyne of 34 Great George street in the City of Westminster Civil Engineer and Brother and one of the Residuary Legatees for England named in the said Will he having been first sworn. The Letters of Administration granted by the Principal Registry May 1858 having been revoked.".5

Charles Cheyne married Harriette Maria Morphy 6 January 1859, in Aghadoe Parish, County Kerry, Ireland. He resided in Aghadoe Parish.3,6,7

Charles Cheyne, gentleman, was listed as the father of the bride on the marriage record of Agnes Mary Cheyne and Humphrey Berkeley, 21 February 1885; Church of England.3,8

Charles Cheyne died 3 August 1886 in Bedford, Bedford, England.9

His estate was probated on 3 November 1886 at Northampton, Northampton, England.10
