William Cheyne was a subtenant of Patrick Gordon, tenant of Lord Pitsligo at Bracklamore, Parish of Aberdour on the List of Pollable Persons in Aberdeenshire 1696. Also present were his unnamed wife and son, John. At the same farm was George Cheyne, herd, for the above Patrick Gordon. George was probably the son of William. Their entries read as follows: "William Cheyne, subtennent, and his wife ... 12s 0d.
"John Cheyne, his son ... 6s 0d.
And,
"George Cheyne, herd, fee per annum, £3, fortieth pairt and generall poll is ... 7s 6d".1
"John Cheyne, his son ... 6s 0d.
And,
"George Cheyne, herd, fee per annum, £3, fortieth pairt and generall poll is ... 7s 6d".1
