FatherUnlinked Cheynes in Aberdeen before the 1696 Poll
Two Cheyne entries were found in Deer Parish in the List of Pollable Persons in Aberdeenshire 1696. Both were of the lands of Mr.Alexander Lister, Laird of Clackriach.
The first entry at Milne Leggitt for an unnamed Cheyne (probably female) reads as follows: "___ Cheyne, servant, fee per annum £6, fortieth pairt and generall poll is ...9s 0p".
The second for John Cheyne, his wife, and daughter, Elspet, were at Wester Maynes. That entry reads "John Cheyne, grassman and his wife ... 12s 0p. Elspet Cheyne, his daughter ...6s 0p".
Unnamed and John probably were siblings.1
