Francis Cheyne

      Peter Chein of Ardmurdo (2106) was mentioned twice in the List of Pollable Persons in Aberdeenshire 1696. His first entry, at Newseat, Peterhead Parish reads as follows: "Georg Forbes of Newseatt his valued rent is £80 0s 0p. His oune poll is given up in the toun of Peterhead, in Peter Chein of Ardmurdo, his masters family".
The second, in Peterhead, reads: "Patrick Chein, sometimes of Ardmurdo, his free stock upwards of 5000 merks, his poll is ... £4 6s 0p.
"His lady, Agnes Duguid ... 6s 0p.
"Francis, Peter, William, James, John and Arrabella Cheins, their poll ... £1 16s 0p". And two servants.¹
