     James Cheyne was born, about 1845, in Scotland.1

James Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated between 1885 and 1887, at Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He was found on five passenger lists, all out of Liverpool. On the 16th of June 1885 on the Samaria, he was a butcher, 25, native of England and destined for Boston; 24th August 1885 on the Samaria, he was a butcher, 34, native of Scotland, living aboard ship and an alien; 2nd of November 1885, he was a butcher, 30 years old and a Scot aboard the Samaria; 12th of December 1886, aboard the Kansas, listed under "Cattlemen returning to the United States" 33, Scot, born in Scotland and destined for Boston; and, on the 18th of January 1887, again on the Samaria, 32, "Refrigerator Man" and "Alien".2
