He was 29 years and 268 days of age, born and residing in Paisley and a general labourer. He was married and had no prior military experience. He was discharged 41 days later, 7 October 1914. His discharge papers provided his wife name and place and date of marriage. It also provided the names and dates and places of birth of his children.1

Thomas Cheyne, residing at 73 Merchiston Street, Glasgow, was named the father and closest relative of Thomas Cheyne on a passenger list on 28 October 1929.2
