Violet Fairgrieve Cheyne, Robert Cheyne, Agnes Cheyne, Harry Cheyne and Andrew Cheyne were listed as children in the household of Robert Cheyne and his wife, Violet Cheyne on the 1901 Scotland Census, at 5 Royston Terrace, in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. He was 4 years of age and born in Edinburgh.1

Andrew Cheyne died 14 April 1915 during World War I. He was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Scots, 9th Battilion, 19, Service Number 1972 and was the son of Robert and Violette Cheyne, of 11, Denham Green Place, Trinity, Edinburgh.3

Andrew Cheyne was buried in grave III. D. 87., at Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, in France.3

His biography was included in De Ruvigny’s Roll of Honour 1914-24, Volume 1, Page 80. Educated at Royal High School, Edinburgh. Enlisted soon after the outbreak of the war, was promoted Lance Corporal, January 1915, and died in hospital 14 April 1915 at Boulogne from wounds received in France (presumably at Ypres). Buried at Boulogne. Unmarried.4
