     Charles Cheyne was born, 5 October 1883, at 7:30 PM, in Tangland Cottage, Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Charles was the illegitimate son of a John Cheyne, farm servant at Cairnhill, Tarves and Isabella Irvine, domestic servant Station Road, Ellon. Both recorded the birth in Methlick and Ellon Parishes. It is assumed that John Cheyne (3219) was the father. Both John and Charles immigrated to Canada and descendants of John have stated that John had an illegitimate son named Charles, born about 1884. This Charles was the only Charles Cheyne born in rural Aberdeenshire 1882-1886 (ScotlandsPeople).1,2,3

Charles Cheyne was listed on the 1901 Scotland Census at Cairnfechil, in Udny Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was a servant in the household of Alexander Scroggie, farm servant. He was listed as 16 years of age, born in Keig Parish, Aberdeen and a general farm servant.1

On 19 June 1910. A Chas Cheyne was on a Manifest of Passengers, dated 19 June 1910, at Quebec, Quebec, Canada, aboard the Saturnia out of Glasgow. That Charles was probably either (15367) or (15934). He was 25 years of age and destined for Manitoba. His occupation in Scotland and his intended occupation in Canada was farmer. He had not previously been in Canada and he intended to stay. He was born in Scotland of Scotch race. He would travel to Manitoba via the Canadian Pacific Railway.4

A Charles Cheyne was mentioned in a book entitled The War Book of Turriff and Twelve Miles Round - A Memorial 1914-1919. That Charles probably was either (15367) or (15934). The enter reads:
"CHARLES CHEYNE (New Byth)
Fireman.
The Black Watch. Private. Served - England".5

Charles Cheyne died 17 May 1972 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.6
