     Margaret Cheyne married Patrick Mitchell.1

Margaret Cheyne and Alexander Mitchell were witnesses at the Christening of William Watson, 29 September 1685, at Keithen, in Monquhitter Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Monquhitter, 1670-1771, Frame 23 “(Sept’r 29th 1685) The said day John Watson in Keithin had a son baptized whose name was William Witnefses Alex’r Mitchel (4629) Patrick Wedderburn & Marg’t Cheyn (1531).”.2

Patrick Mitchell, his wife, Margaret Cheyne and, two children were listed at mill of Eastertouns, Fyvie Parish belonging to the Earl of Dumfirmline on the List of Pollable Persons in Aberdeenshire 1696. The entry reads as follows:
"Patrick Mitchell, millart at the said Mill of Eastertoun ... 12s 0d.
"Margaret Cheyne, his wyfe, and Margaret Mitchell, his daughter, seventeen years of age, in familia ... 12s 0d.
"Thomas Mitchell, his son, eighteen years of age, in familia ... 6s 0d".3
