Alexander (756), William (1515), Jean (1526), Jean (4414), Samuel (1528), Margaret (4409) and Patrick (4423) Cheynes were probably closely related.1

Samuel Cheyne (1528) was listed on the List of Pollable Persons in Aberdeenshire 1696, at Cottoune, near Fadonhill, Fyvie Parish. He was living under Alexander Black, yeaman tenant of the laird of Gight. Alexander probably was related to Helen Black (1516), the wife of William Cheyne, who lived at Blackhillock and Bodiechell. The entry reads as follows: "Samuel Cheyn lives upon charity, to be proven ... 0s 0d".2
