Jean Cheyne and her husband, John Kennert were in the household of Lt. Col. John Gordon, Laird of Gight at the time of the 1696 poll. Their entry was after the Laird and his family and four servants. It reads:
"John Kennert, cottar (no trade), and Jean Cheyne, his wyfe ... 12s 0d".
Their entry was followed by addition servants. It is unclear if those servants were his or the laird's.10
