     Joan Cheyne was born, 7 May 1866, in Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Her IGI birth record had her as Joan Wilson, whose father was not identified and whose mother was Ann Wilson. Ann Wilson and Joan Cheyne were found together on the 1871 census.1

Joan Cheyne was listed as a granddaughter in the household of George Wilson and his wife, Mary McD. Wilson, on the 1871 British Census at 14 Ann Street, in Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was four years of age. Her mother was also present.2
