Wilfrid Cheyne and his mother, Minnie Cheyne, were listed on the 1901 Canadian Census in Brooke, Lambton District, Ontario, Canada. They were boarders in the household of Agnes Winters. Minnie was listed as of Irish origin, a Canadian citizen, a Presbyterian and employed as a bookkeeper. She had been employed twelve months and earned $400. Wilfrid was of Scottish origin and had attended school for nine months.1

Wilfrid Cheyne was in the household of William Robert Dawson and his wife, Minnie Dawson, and listed as stepson on the 1911 Canadian Census, at James Street, in Brooke, Lambton East District, Ontario, Canada. He was listed as a student, who had attended school for eight months. Also listed as an Anglican of Scottish origin.3

Wilfrid Cheyne was listed on the 1911 Canadian Census at 226 Vidal Street, in Sarnia, Lambton West District, Ontario, Canada. He had a double entry on the census. This one was probably where he attended school. He was a lodger in the household of Fanny Burke. His birth month, year and place were the same in both entries. He was single, an Episcopalian and a student who had attended school for ten months.4

Wilfrid Turner Cheyne was found on a list of military personnel dated 1916 in Camp Borden, Ontario, Canada. He had signed an Officers' Declaration Paper joining the 149th Battalion of the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force as a lieutenant. The day of the month was the 12th, but the month was not legible He was a stenographer, residing at Grosvenor Camp, London, Ontario and was born, 13 February 1893, in Saint Thomas, Ontario. He had no previous military experience, but was a current member of the Militia, 27th Regiment. His mother, Mrs. W. R. Dawson, Inwood, Ontario was listed as his next of kin.5

Wilfrid Turner Cheyne married Florence Maud Stevely 21 March 1917, in London, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. He was 24 years old, a bachelor, a soldier in the Caledonian 149th Battalion. He was born in Saint Thomas and resided in London. His parents were confirmed to be as recorded herein.6

Wilfrid Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated 25 June 1927, at Quebec, Quebec, Canada. He was a passenger aboard the Empress of France, out of Cherbourg on the 18th of June. He was listed on a page for "One Way West Bound Tourist third Cain Canadians". He was 34, married and born in Saint Thomas, Canada. His wife was named Ann F. Cheyne; his mother, F. Cheyne; and his step-father, Mr. W. R. Dawson.2

Captain Wm. Turner Cheyne died 23 October 1931 of pulmonary tuberculosis with which he had suffered for seven years, at 170 Queen Stareet in Sarnia, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. He was in the household of his step-father who recorded his death. He was 38 years old, a soldier and divorced. His parents were confirmed to be as recorded herein.7
