Margaret Simpson Barclay was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 9 November 1845, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 244, "November 9th (1845) Peter Barclay (1348), Miller, in Peterhead and Ann Cheyne (3867) his wife, had a daughter born 7th Oct'r baptized and named Margaret (1351), before William Barclay and James Smith.”.1

William Barclay, Margaret Barclay, Isabella Barclay and Alexander Bruce Barclay were listed as children in the household of Peter Barclay and his wife, Ann Barclay on the 1851 Scotland Census, at Saint Andrews Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was 5 years of age, born in Rathen Parish and at home.5

Margaret S. Barclay married William Shewan 16 February 1870, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, at Merchant Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was a 23 year old, spinster residing at Merchant Street, Peterhead. The ceremony was witnessed by a William Barclay, probably a brother. Her parents were confirmed to be as recorded herein.6,7,8

Margaret Shewan was listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, at 42 Kirk Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was head of household and a merchant. Also present were her children, William Shewan, Ann Shewan, Elizabeth Shewan, Margaret Shewan and Peter Shewan. She was listed as 30 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.2

Margaret Simpson Barclay married James Ingram.3

Margaret Ingram and her husband, James Ingram, were listed on the 1891 Scotland Census, at 40 Kirk Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Jane Ingram, William Shewan, Elizabeth Shewan, Margaret Shewan and Peter Shewan. Also present was her nephew, Edward Barclay, 23, baker.. She was listed as 40 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.3

Margaret Shewan was listed on the 1901 Scotland Census, at 64 Kirk Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was head of household. Also present were her children, Elizabeth Shewan, Margaret Shewan and Jane Ingram. Also present was a boarder, Skene Thomson, 17, labourer. She was 50 yeas of age, but her occupation and place of birth was not indexed.4
