He was 8 years of age, born in Dalkeith and an apprentice brush maker.3

George Cheyne, Alexander Cheyne and Thomas Cheyne was in the household of Alexander Cheyne and listed as nephew on the 1901 Scotland Census, at 8 Livingstone Place, in Edinburgh, Newington Parish, Midlothian, Scotland. He was listed as 18 years of age, born in Dalkeith and an apprentice plumber.5
