     William Cheyne was born, 1 December 1845, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1

William Cheyne was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 21 December 1845, at Monletty, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Methlick, 1820-1854, Frame 28 [417] "21st Dec'r (1845) George Cheyne in Monletty had a child baptized & named William before Witnefses John Grieve in parish of Turriff & William Cheyne (1302) in Monletty".2

George Cheyne, William Cheyne and John Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Ann Simpson on the 1851 Scotland Census, at Monletty, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was 5 years of age, born in Methlick Parish and a scholar.3

William Cheyne, John Cheyne, Ann Cheyne, George Cheyne and James Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Ann Cheyne on the 1861 Scotland Census, at Monlettie, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was 15 years of age, born in Methlick Parish and a cattleman.4

William Cheyne, farmer's son in Monlettie, Methlick Parish, Aberdeen and father of the child, recorded the illegitimate birth of Ann Cheyne, on 17 November 1866, in Auchencrieve, Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.5

William Cheyne, farm servant, recorded the birth of his illegitimate daughter, Jane Clark Cheyne, on 22 January 1868, in Leitcher Burn, New Pitsligo Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 3 AM.6

William Cheyne, John Cheyne, Ann Cheyne, George Cheyne, James Cheyne, Robert Cheyne and Alexander Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Ann Cheyne on the 1871 Scotland Census, at Monletty, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was unmarried, 25, born in Methlick Parish and a farmer's son.7

William Cheyne, John Cheyne, Ann Cheyne, George Cheyne, James Cheyne, Robert Cheyne and Alexander Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Ann Cheyne on the 1881 Scotland Census, at Monletty, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was unmarried, born in Methlick Parish and 35 years of age.8

William Cheyne, John Cheyne, Ann Cheyne, George Cheyne and Alexander Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Ann Cheyne on the 1891 Scotland Census, at Monlettie, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was unmarried, age 45, born in Methlick Parish and employed as a corn agent.9

William Cheyne married Margaret Ironside 7 December 1892, at Waverly Hall, Saint Paul Street, in Aberchirder, Aberdeen, Scotland. William was described as a grain agent, aged 47, residing at Arnage Station, Savoch Parish, Aberdeen.10

William Cheyne and his wife Margaret Cheyne were listed on the 1901 Scotland Census, at Hillhead Cults, in Peterculter Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was head of household and a general labourer. Also present were his children, George Cheyne, William Cheyne and Jemima M. Cheyne. William was 55 years of age and born in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen.12

About 1900. James Cheyne (13534) was the assumed son of William Cheyne (1307) and Margaret Ironside. He will be living in the same house as her and his assumed brother, William, in 1930.13

William Cheyne died about 1907 of pneumonia.13,14
