William Cheyne was listed on the 1871 British Census at Dudwick, in Ellon Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was listed as a six year old nephew, in the household of Ann Forbes, unmarried, age 50. Also present was Ann Forbes' sister, Isabella Forbes, unmarried, age 39. Isabella may have been William's mother.1

A William Cheyne, 30, born in Aberdeen, was found on the 1891 British Census, at Model Lodging House, 105 Hyde Park Street, Glasgow, Barony Parish, Lanark, Scotland. He was listed as an inmate there and a chair maker. He was probably either William (3220) or (12321).2
