Samuel Donald Cheyne and his wife Anestane M. H. Cheyne were listed on the 1901 Ireland Census, at 39 Lisburn Road, in Windsor Ward, County Antrim, Ireland. He was head of household and a ladies tailor. Both were listed as members of the Presbyterian Church.. He was listed as 30 years of age and born in County Down.6

Samuel and Anestane had been married for 15 years and she had only one child.. He was listed as 40 years of age and born in County Londonderry.4

An abstract of the probate of John Spear Gervan, dated 16 September 1912, reads: "Effects £1,992 1s. 5d. Probate of the Will of John Spear Gervan late of Grangemount, Grange, Ballygawley, County Tyrone, Esquire J.P. who died 10 July 1912 at 37 Eglantine Avenue Belfast granted at Armagh to Francis Carlile, Samuel B.
Sandiford and Samuel D. Cheyne Merchants".10

S. Donald Cheyne was named the brother of Lillie Dripps Cheyne on a passenger list dated 3 July 1922. He resided at Donegall Place, Belfast.11
