     George Cheyne was baptized, 16 May 1811, in Edinburgh Parish, Midlothian, Scotland.1

George Cheynes (11092) and (11727) may have been the same person.

He graduated as a medical doctor from Edinburgh University in 1832.2

George Cheyne married Alice (?).

About 1846. George Cheyne (11862), born in Mexico, a British subject, about 1846, was on the 1891 census in London. He was probably the son of the Dr. Cheyne (11727), who was in Mexico at the time. No other Cheynes are known to have born there.3,4

Dr. Cheyne's wife and daughter, Alice, were found on the 1861 census in the Isle of Wight and two children, Norman and Edward at a boarding school in Suffolk.

George Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated 2 November 1865, at New York, New York, USA. He was on a Manifest of Passengers aboard the Vera Cruz, out of Havana, Cuba and Vera Cruz, Mexico. He was 50 years of age, a doctor of medicine, a citizen of the United States and his destination was the United States. He was a cabin class passenger.5

He was listed in The Medical Register of the United Kingdom for the years of 1867, 1875 and 1879. His entries stated that he first registered on 25 April 1860 and his qualifications included being licenced by the Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh, 1832 and M.D. Edinburgh University, 1832. His address in 1867 and 1875 was London. [N.B.--He was not found there n the census of 1871.]6

His children, Guadalupe, Noman and Edward were found residing in his house at 24 Elsham Road, London, Kensington, Saint Barnabas Parish, Middlesex, England, on the 1871 census, although he was not present. He witnessed the probate of the estate of Juanita Maria Stiell Cheyne on 7 June 1877 at London, England.7

He was a resident of Guanajuato, Mexico in 1879.8

George Cheyne died 6 March 1881 in Naples, Italy.9,10

His estate was probated on 23 May 1881 at London, England.9

George Cheyne, deceased Medical Doctor, was listed as the father of the bride on the marriage record of Alice Mary Cheyne and Joseph Dyer Tovey, 15 January 1885; Church of England.11
