     Robert Cheyne was born, about 1845, in New York, USA. His parentage could not be established. Both parents were listed as foreign born on the 1870 census; and, as having been born in Scotland on the 1880 and 1900. In 1920, his mother was said to have been born in Ireland and spoke Irish.1

Robert Cheyne married Catherine H. (?) 1866. The couple was listed as having been married for thirty four years on the 1900 US Census.2

Also present were his children, Lila Cheyne and Robert Cheyne. The family owned their home free and clear. He was listed as having been out of work for four months.2

Robert Cheyne and his wife Catherine H. Cheyne were listed on the 1920 United States Census, at 1863 Federal Avenue, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, USA. He was head of household. They rented their home. He was 76; and, she, 82. No occupation listed for either.4
