     Isabella Brown was born, 1843, in Scotland.1,2 She immigrated in 1870.

Isabella Brown married John Cheyne about 1871.3

Mrs. Jessie Cheyne and John Cheyne were found on a passenger list, dated 13 October 1879, at New York, New York, USA. Also present were their children Tom Cheyne, Harry Cheyne and Jessie I. Cheyne. They were on a Manifest of Passengers aboard the Ethiopia, out of Glasgow, Scotland and Moville, Ireland. John and Jessie were listed as 37 and 34, and Gent and Lady. All were said to have been subjects of Scotland and were Cabin Class passengers. All the children's ages were two years older than they should have been.4

They were first cabin passengers on the steamship Devonia, out of Glasgow, Scotland and were bound for the USA. John was listed as a manufacturer.5

Mrs. John Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated 16 September 1906, at New York, New York, USA. She was on a Manifest of Alien Passengers aboard the Caledonia out of Glasgow. She was 63 years of age, married, a citizen of United States, and resided in Patterson, New Jersey, her destination.8

Isabella Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated 12 July 1912, at New York, New York, USA. Also present was their son Thomas Cheyne. They were on a Manifest of Alien Passengers aboard the Carpathia, out of Fiume. Isabell was listed as 69 years old and a widow. Thomas was 37 and single. Both were marked as United States citizens, born in the USA and of Scotch race. No other details were listed.9

Isabella Cheyne was in the household of Thomas D. Cheyne and listed as mother on the 1920 United States Census, at 703 27th Street, in Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey, USA. She was a 76 year old widow. She and her parents were said to have been born in Scotland.10

Isabella Cheyne died 1920.11
