Charles Cheyne married Sarah Anne Horne 22 March 1837, in City of London, Saint Nicholas Acons Parish, Middlesex, England. Charles and Sarah Anne had at least three children. All were born in the same parish as they were married.1

He was baptised by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Hartwell Horne, Rector of the Parish.3,4

The baptismal record of Sarah Elizabeth Cheyne named Charles Cheyne, clerk, residing at Christ's Hospital as her father, 26 April 1840, in City of London, Saint Nicholas Acons Parish, Middlesex, England. She was baptised by her maternal grandfather, Thomas Hartwell Horne, Rector of the Parish.4

Sarah Horne, Sarah Anne Cheyne, Mary Horne, Charles Cheyne, Charles Hartwell Horne Cheyne and Sarah Elizabeth Cheyne were listed as in the household of Thomas Hartwell Horne on the 1841 England Census, at Nicholas Lane, in City of London, Saint Nicholas Acons Parish, Middlesex, England. He was listed as 37 years of age, "in Holy Orders" and born in Middlesex. His wife, Sarah Anne and children were also present.5

The baptismal record of Thomas Kelly Cheyne named Charles Cheyne, clerk, residing at 4 Nicholas Lane, as his father, 24 October 1841, in City of London, Saint Nicholas Acons Parish, Middlesex, England. He was baptised by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Hartwell Horne, Rector of the Parish.4

Charles Cheyne and his wife Sarah Anne Cheyne were listed on the 1851 England Census, in London, Saint Botolph Aldersgate, Middlesex, England. He was head of household and a Curate of Saint Oloves Jewry. Also present was his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Cheyne. He was 47 years of age and born in Middlesex.6

Charles Cheyne and his wife Sarah Anne Cheyne were listed on the 1871 England Census, at Stonely, in London, Croydon, Surrey, England. He was head of household and a M.A., clergyman. Also present were his children, Sarah Elizabeth Cheyne and Thomas Kelly Cheyne. He was 67 years of age and born in London, Middlesex.7 Rev'd Charles Cheyne witnessed the probate of the estate of Charles Hartwell Horne Cheyne on 23 January 1877 at London, England.8

Charles Cheyne was listed on the 1881 England Census, at 4 Saint Michaels Road, in London, Lambeth, Surrey, England. He was head of household and a widower and clergyman without care of souls, M. A.. Also present was his daughter, Sarah E. Cheyne.2

Charles Cheyne died 25 November 1885 at 4 Saint Michaels Road in London, Lambeth, Surrey, England. His obituary appeared in the The Perthshire Courier, 1 December 1885, page 2, column 7.9,10

His estate was probated on 7 January 1886.11
