     Charles Cheyne was born, 13 March 1781. The place of birth as provided by Peter Miller was Godalming Parish. However, his entry in the Register of Baptisms, Shoreditch, state his parents resided in Horsehoe Alley.1

Charles Cheyne was baptized, 9 April 1781, in London, Shoreditch, Middlesex, England. His baptismal record entry reads: "Charles, son of Charles & Elizabeth Cheyne of Horseshoe Alley. Born March ye 13th. Baptized ye 9th inst. (April 1781).2,3,4,5

Charles Cheyne married Elizabeth Winchester 3 December 1801, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of England, in Saint Martin in the Fields Parish, London, Middlesex, England. He resided in Saint James Parish, Clerkenwell.6,7,8,9

About 1805. Sarah Cheyne (11203) may have been and unrecorded daughter of Charles Cheyne (10788) and Elizabeth Winchester.10,11

Charles Cheyne and Elizabeth Ann Seddon had their marriage banns read in the procedures of the Church of England, 24 June 1827 in London, Southwark, Saint George the Martyr Parish, Surrey, England. Their banns were proclaimed on the 10th, 17th and 24th of June. He was a widower and she a widow and both resided in the parish..12

Charles Cheyne married Elizabeth Ann Seddon 31 October 1827, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of England, in City of London, Saint James Garlickhithe Parish, England. They were married in the parish church. He was a widower and a resident of the parish. A witness to the marriage was an Elizabeth Cheyne (20479), they were probably closely related.13,14

Charles Cheyne, gentleman, was listed as the father of the bride on the marriage record of Marian Cheyne and Taverner John Miller, 11 October 1838; Church of England.15,16

Charles Cheyne listed on the 1841 England Census, at Lambeth Terrace, in London, Lambeth, Saint Mary Parish, Surrey, England. He was head of household and a collector. Also in the household were Elizabeth Cheyne. He was listed as 60 years old and born in England, but not in Surrey.3

Charles Cheyne, gentleman, was listed as the father of the bride on the marriage record of Clara Cheyne and Samuel Slater, 24 April 1844; Church of England.15,17

Charles Cheyne and his wife Elizabeth A. Cheyne were listed on the 1851 England Census, at 23 Lambeth Terrace, in London, Lambeth, Saint Mary Parish, Surrey, England. He was head of household and a stationer. He was listed as 70 years old and born in Shoreditch.2

Charles Cheyne died 27 March 1856.18
