     Margaret Ironside was born, 3 May 1856, in Balquhindachy, Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Margaret, aka Maggie M. Ironside, had about seven siblings.1,2,3,4

Margaret Ironside, John Ironside and Wilson Shirran Ironside were listed as children in the household of Jane Shirran on the 1861 Scotland Census, at Balquhindachy, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was listed as 4 years old and born in Methlick Parish.3

Margaret Ironside married William Cheyne 7 December 1892, at Waverly Hall, Saint Paul Street, in Aberchirder, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was a dressmaker, residing at 13 Loch Street, Aberdeen.5

Margaret Cheyne and her husband, William Cheyne, were listed on the 1901 Scotland Census, at Hillhead Cults, in Peterculter Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, George Cheyne, William Cheyne and Jemima M. Cheyne. She was 43 years of age, born in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen and a dressmaker.6

About 1900. James Cheyne (13534) was the assumed son of William Cheyne (1307) and Margaret Ironside. He will be living in the same house as her and his assumed brother, William, in 1930.7

She was listed on the 1930 US Census as having had immigrated to the USA in 1922.7

Margaret Cheyne was named the mother and closest relative of William Cheyne on a passenger list dated 26 March 1923. She resided at 15 Everett Street, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.9

Margaret Cheyne was in the household of William Cheyne and listed as mother on the 1930 United States Census, at 133 Belmont Street, in Everett, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA. She was a widow, aged 72 years, who with her parents were born in Scotland and were of Scotch tongue. She had immigrated in 1922 and was still an alien.7

William M. Cheyne and Margaret Cheyne were listed on the 1940 United States Census at 36 Forest Street, in Peabody, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. They were lodgers in the household of Walter Atkinson, carpenter. He was 42 years old, single and employed as aa automobile mechanic. She was 84 years old and a widow. Both were born in Scotland. He was a naturalized citizen and she an alien. Both resided in Everett, Massachusetts in 1935.4
