George Cheyne, James Cheyne, Margaret Cheyne, Christina Cheyne and Hellen Cheyne were listed as children in the household of John Cheyne and his wife, Isabella Cheyne on the 1851 Scotland Census, at King Street Road, in Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was a scholar.2

Hellen Cheyne was found in the household of John Cheyne and his wife, Isabella Cheyne, and listed as their daughter on the 1861 Scotland Census at 8 King Street Road, in Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was 14 years of age and employed as a domestic servant.3

Helen Cheyne, 24 and born in Old Machar Parish was a servant in the household of James Chalmers, printer, on the 1871 British Census, at Willowbank, Hardgate, Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was employed as a nurse. That Helen may have been either (10121) or (12573).4

Hellen Cheyne married George Grant 7 November 1873, in accordance with the procedures of the Free Church of Scotland, at 19 King Street Road, in Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Hellen was listed on the marriage record as twenty six years of age, a spinster and domestic servant, residing at 19 King Street Road, Old Aberdeen. Her brother, James Cheyne (5739) witnessed the marriage. Her parents were confirmed to have been as herein recorded.5

Hellen C. Grant and her husband, George Grant, were listed on the 1881 British Census, at 22 Powis Place, in Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Margaret C. Grant and Lizzie Grant. Her sister, Jessie (10140), now Jessie Morrice, was found 9 pages later on the same census, both entries were on Powis Place.6

Hellen Grant was listed on the 1891 British Census, at 27 Dee Village Road, in Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was head of household and a annuitant. Also present were her children, Margaret C. Grant, George Grant, Christina Grant, William Grant and John Grant. Also present was a boarder, John Grant, 31, who was probaly her brother-in-law. Hellen was 44 years of age and born in Old Machar Parish.7

Hellen Grant was listed on the 1901 British Census, at 27 Dee Village Road, in Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was head of household. Also present were her children, George Grant, Christina Grant and William Grant. Helen was 55 years of age and born in Old Aberdeen.8

Hellen Grant was named the sister of James Cheyne on a passenger list dated 4 July 1909. She resided at 85 Union Grove, Aberdeen.9
