FatherUnlinked Cheynes in Aberdeen, after 1850
Christian Cheyne was born, about 1822, in Old Deer Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Christian Cheyne (10082) was probably closely related to William Cheyne (987) whose family lived at Skelmuir in 1851. All of his children were listed together on one page of the Register of Baptisms in Old Deer Parish. Therefore, it is unlikely that she is an unrecorded daughter. She probably is a niece of that family.1

A "Chirstan" Chyne was found in the household of John Mathew, farmer, on the 1841 Scotland Census, at Krubleith, Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was 15, employed as an agricultural labourer, and was born in Aberdeenshire. That Christian was probably either (1090) or (10082).2

Christian Cheyne married James Robertson 8 August 1850, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Old Deer Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Old Deer, 1820-1854, "James Robertson (1716), Shoemaker, Skelmuir and Christian Cheyne (10082), Skelmuir, both in this parish were, after due proclaimation of banns married 8th August 1850.”.3

Christian Robertson and her husband, James Robertson, were listed on the 1851 Scotland Census, at Newton, in Old Deer Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. She was 28 years of age and born in Old Deer Parish..4

Christian Cheyne died 29 June 1851 in childbirth.5

Christian Cheyne was buried, at Longside Kirkyard, in Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Her monumental inscription reads: "Erected by JAMES ROBERTSON Skelmuir, Old Deer in memory of his wife CHRISTIAN CHEYNE d.29 June 1851 aged 28. Their dau. CHRISTIAN d.2 July 1851 aged 2 days"..6
