Johann Jacob Leu's Allgemeines Helvetisches, Eydgenössisches, Oder Schweitzerisches Lexicon (generally known as the Lexikon) says he died in 1721 at Oron, age 82, thus placing his date of birth about 1639. Other sources say 1634 of 1641. The 1639 date is more likely to be correct, but we have not checked the church records at Oron. The 1634 figure could be the result of a typographical error, and the 1641 date could stem from a misreading of the original church record (reading his age at death as 80 rather than 82 years).
He attended the Académie de Lausanne 1653-1659 and the Académie de Genève 1662-1665, and then served as minister successively at La Tour-de-Peilz (1668-1673), Mont-sur-Lausanne (1673-1674), Lausanne (4th post, 1674-1685), and then minister at Pully (1685-1700), Corsier-sur-Vevey (1700-1703), and finally Oron (1703-1721), where he died in 1721. He purchased the fief of Treytorrens in 1697. He is sometimes called Jaques. AVL D441/3 contains a list of the bourgeoisie of Lausanne, compiled in 1688, which lists the sons of Jacob: George, Philippe, Louys, Pierre Elie, and Marc Elie. His thesis in theology for the Académie de Lausanne is dated 1659, "De Voluntate Dei".
His marriage contract was recorded 26 jul 1666 by Jean Baptiste de Montherand (ACV Dg 178/1, unnumbered, but the contract is the first item in the register).
His purchase of the fief of Treytorrens is noted in ACV Ba 33/5, pp. 648 ff, as a result of an "acte privé" dated 30 jan 1696, and an "acte stipulé" (meaning, a transaction recorded by a notary) dated 25 jan 1697.
He is not listed among the children of Jacob in the list of the bourgeoisie of Lausanne compiled in January, 1688 (ACV D441/3), so he is presumed to have died before this date.
He is variously called Jean Jacob, Jacob, or Jean Jaques. He was named as substituary heir of his aunt Anne Françoise Masset (ACV Bg 120/3, fol. 505, not yet examined).
In 1767, Jeanne Baldy complained to the Consistory of Lausanne that she had become pregnant by the minister Jean Jaques DuGué de Treytorrens. The case occupied the Consistory for many weeks (ACV Bd 16/3, discussed intermittently from fol. 108 until at least fol. 137).
At the time of his death, he was one of the Coseigneurs of Treytorrens. His verbal testament was dictated 11 feb 1771, in the presence of the minister Jean Louis Philippon of Vevey, and Jean François Leubaz of Cossonay, designating as his universal heir his cousin David Nicolas dit DuGué, the other Coseigneur de Treytorrrens, residing at Morges, and made a bequest to his niece Julie de Montherand (ACV Bg 13/1, fol. 133v, not yet examined). His burial was recorded at Lausanne, 14 feb 1771, giving his age as 61 years. By this expedient, presumably, David Nicolas dit DuGué would have become the sole Seigneur de Treytorrens, extinguishing the Coseigneurie.
His exact date of death was found in the personal journals of Jean Henri Polier, see Pierre Morren, La vie lausannoise au XVIIIe siècle, d'après Jean Henri Polier de Vernand, Lieutenant Baillival (Geneva: Labor et Fides, 1970), p. 581.
The church registers at Goumoëns-la-Ville are incomplete, due to inattention by several ministers. Curiously, Jean Philippe DuGué is called Jacob several times, with the same wife Françoise Elisabeth de Quervain. At the baptism of his daughter Anne in 1708, he is called Seigneur de Treytorrens, and the spontors on that occasion included Pierre Elie DuGué "aussi Seigneur de Treytorrens" and his wife Anne Masset.

Followers of Count Nicholas von Zinzindorf of Herrnhut in Saxony, the Nieckes came to America to help spread the teachings of the Moravians...in Nazareth and Bethlehem, PA. They left one or more of their children behind in the Herrnhut community. Son David came to America when he was an adult and already married.
