Misc. Notes
Geesje Barentsdocher was born in 1591 in Altenbruch, Hanover, Germany. She resided Schaepensteegje (Sheep Alley) about 1632 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She died about 1658 in New York. She assisted her daughter, Annatie, at the signing of her banns on 27 Mar 1632 for her marriage to Albert Andriessen and her son, Barent Baretns, at the signing of his banns on 21 Apr 1632. There was no mention of her husband, Barent Rottmer, so it is assumed he died previous to these duties.
She came to the New World with her second husband, Pieter Jacobsz van Rynsburch/Renborch, who was most probably the West Indian Company gunner at Fort Orange. Geesie and Pieter filed a joint will in New Amsterdam in June 1642 leaving all of their separate estates to each other. If geesie died first, Pieter was to pay her daughter, Annatie, twenty carolus guilders. Since Pieter made the first of three payments to the deacons of Fort Orange for an adult funeral pall, on 12 Apri 1658, it appears that Geesie had died that previous winter or spring.
