Urbana - Suzanne Jane Powers, 52, of 806 S. Webber St., U, died at 2:38 p.m. Friday (May 31, 1996) at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Neb.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, U. The Rev. Melva England will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Mayview.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Powers was born Oct. 23, 1943, at Chicago, a daughter of S. Fred and Helen Hartel [sic] Christenson [sic]. She married Charles F. Powers on Feb. 11, 1961, at Urbana. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa G. Houge of North Platte, Neb., and Angela K. Powers of Urbana, and a sister, Pamela Carico of Springfield, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Powers graduated from Urbana High School and received a bachelor of science degree sum cum laude in career occupation from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston. She was a Livingston Lord Schholar at the university.

She was a member of Grade United Methodist Church, Urbana, and was a troop leader and trainer for Green Meadow Girl Scout Council for 30 years. She was a professional cake decorator.
