341, pg. B-4, 15 Dec 2000ST. JOSEPH — Frank Mason Corray, 96 of St. Joseph died at 8:35 a.m. thursday (Dec. 14, 2000) at ManorCare Health Services, Champaign.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, U. The Rev. Clayton Self will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Corray was born Oct. 8, 1904, in Urbana Township, a son of Harmon Mason and Elizabeth Bowers Corray. He married Gladys Jane Dallas on Nov. 22, 1927, at Kansas City, MO. She died in 1934. He married Reba Robertson in 1936. She also preceded him in death. He married Ethel Ersig Mosier in 1950. She died in 1982.

Surviving are two sons, Roger M. Corray and Robert L. Corray, both of St. Joseph; a step-daughter, Norma Mosier Pittman of Bales Lake, Loda; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Mr. Corray and his brothers owned and operated Corray Brothers Coal and Heating Co. in Urebvana from 1927 to 1946 and Leavitt Bleacher Co. in Urbana from 1946 to 1956. He also was the office manager for Associated Transfer and Storage Co. for several years and was a retired farmer.

Mr. Corray was president of the Champaign County Credit Association board from 1931 to 1934, president and secretary of the Champaign County Fair Association from 1939 to 1941 and a member of the URbana Chamber of Commerce. He was president of the Urbana District 116 School Board for two terms. He served on the Champaign County Board as the Urbana Township supervisor from 1967 to 1976 and was on the Champaign County Review Board.

In the 1920s and 1930s Mr. Corray played semi-professional basketball with the Kansas City Life Insurance team at Kansas City, Mo., with the Twin City Basketball League and with the Champaign County Basketball League. He also played semi-professional baseball with the Twilight League of the Twin Cities.

He was a 1922 graduate of Urbana High School, where he lettered in football, basketball and track. He was a past member of the UI Quarterback Club. His interests also included harness racing and fishing.

He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Urbana.
