Misc. Notes
Henry I, youngest son of William the Conquerer, had himself elected and crowned King of England when his brother, William II, died. His other brother, Robert II, Duke of Normandy, was fighting Moslems in the Crusades at the time. Henry married Edith Matilda of Scotland.

In 1101, Robert II invaded England, but Henry bought him off. Four years later, Henry invaded Normandy, defeated his brother, and became Duke of Normandy. In the meantime, he had been involved in a struggle with Anselm over lay investiture.

His latter years were marked by his attempts to obtain the succession for his daughter, Matilda. Under King Henry I’s reign of order and progress, royal justice was strengthened.
