Aged Resident Dead
Mrs. Shaeffer Was Resident of Champaign County in War Times

In the death of Grandma Anna Shaeffer at her home one and one-half miles northeast of Urbana the neighborhood lost an old and respected resident. She moved to the place where she died in 1863 with her husband and family from Indiana. She was born in Harrison County, Ohio, July 14, 1809, and passed from us on April 15, 1904. Her husband, Abraham, preceded her to the land of the Leal in 1887. He was born in Cumberland County, Pa., March 26, 1802. They were married January 24, 1827, and raised a large family of whom but five survive grandmother. David in Kansas, John in Iowa, Jason in Missouri, William at home, and Eliza Hartle of Pontiac, Illinois, with a large number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.

Precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is still,
The Place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.

God in his wisdom has recalled
The boon his love had given,
And though the body molders here,
The soul is safe in Heaven.
