Joseph was probably born in Biddenden, County Kent, England, a village near Lydd. He came to New England with his parents in 1635 on the “Elizabeth” at the age of 7.486 486


He was a “Bricklayer,” Constable from 1675 to 1678, Selectman in 1673 and served in this capacity until a new meeting-house was erected. He lived in his father’s home in Hingham. All of his children were born in Hingman, as well.483 484 485
