Harding claims that Thomas’ son John died in 1522.
484Newton Bates writes, “It is possible that this John, son of Thomas, is the ancestral John who died in 1522. If this conjecture be correct, the line would be through Thomas Bate.” Pg. 2 - Given Harding’s claim that this is correct, it seems reasonable to consider accepting Newton Bates’ lineage. John Bate of Lydd died in 1522. He was Jurat of Lydd, and left about 20 pounds to the Lydd church in his will.
