Misc. Notes
Shortly after her parents moved to Bedford County, Susanna “Susey” Hartle married John Snowberger, son of Jacob and Catherine Snowberger. That family had migrated to Morrison’s Cove from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, about 1790. Their first child, Nancy (m. George Biddle), was born 29 April 1798 [Liebegott Collection, Vol. 213, p. 3].

At the time of the 1810 Census John was living in Woodberry Township, Huntingdon County with three boys under the age of ten: Jacob (m. Elizabeth Biddle), John H. (m. Mary Ann Dell) and Frederick (m. Susanna Morgan). Four girls were listed as under the age of ten: Nancy, who would actually have been twelve, Julia (m. Peter Biddle), Catherine (m. Jacob L. Mock) and Frances “Franey” (married a Sheloe).

John and Susan subsequently had five more children: Andrew (m. Margaret Morgan), Susan (m. Andrew Biddle), Margaret (m. Casper Reecy), Elizabeth (m. Jacob Dell) and Barbara (m. Christian C. Hainely).

In 1820 John Snowberger was already residing on the Huntingdon County farm that he purchased from the estate of his father-in-law [Deed Book S-1, p. 437, Huntingdon Co., PA].

John can be found in the 1820 and 1830 censuses, and he died on 24 March 1836 [Liebegott Collection, Vol. 213, p. 3]. Susanna continued to live at the home near East Sharpsburg and can be found in the 1840 census. Daughters Nancy Biddle and Barbara Hainely were living on either side of her, and the 15-20 year old female enumerated with her may have been a granddaughter. Susanna died on 9 November 1843 and is buried in the Snowberger Cemetery at East Sharpsburg [Liebegott Collection, Vol. 213, p. 3].66
