They arrived on the ship “Phoenix” 28 August 1750 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. William Ehrmann was on the same ship. By 1752 they were settled in York County, Pennsylvania in or near the city of York and were members of the Christ Lutheran Church.

In the late 1760’s they moved to Frederick County, Maryland, in the city of Frederick and were members of the Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church. They appear on the census of 1776 in Frederick County.

Godfrey received house and lot #167 (231 ft x 82 ft) in Funkstown from Peter Hurbach, on 19 Jun 1784487 and sold it 15 March 1788 to Elie Williams487, Book E-771. At the request of Godhart Selhart, the deed of his son, Christopher, from George Dement was recorded (lot #164, 231 ft x 82-1/2 ft), 4 September 1778487, Book A-308

In the 1800 Census of Washington County, both he and his wife re listed as over 45 years of age.
