He was aboard the same boat as his father - the "Henry Chauteau" when he died. His body was interred for several months in the crypt of H. Blakely in New Orleans and later the body was brought to St. Louis and interred on his lot in Bellfountain Cemetery where his 2nd wife and a son had been buried previously.
