According to the diary of Edward Pitt Hicks, Leonard Rudd enlisted in the Confederate Army and this was he last he ever heard of him.

There was an L. Rudd, Private Conscript, Prisoner of War, paroled at Meridian, MS May 10, 1865 - Residence, Memphis, TN. Listed in "Booth, Records of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers and Louisiana Confederate Command."
