Mary (or Marie) Prowse, who, in 1509, by a marriage settlement, brought to her husband, John Gye, lands called “Upcott” in Cheriton FitzPaine, near Poughill. In 1516, she and her husband claimed the lands of her father, Thomas Prowse, in Poughill, Dodderidge, Ilsington and elsewhere.
