He came over with his mother, Widow Patience Foster, on the same ship with the Bates family. He was a brewer, and very active and prominent man in town affairs. He was a Deputy in 1652, and Selectman for many years. Member A. & H. Artillery Co. in 1642, and its Sergeant in 1647.157
