URBANA — Homer B. Smith, 83, of 1211 N. Cottonwood, U, died at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 11, 1997) at Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, U. The Rev. David M. Alberts will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Mayview.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born april 8, 1913, in Somer Township, a son of H. Earl and Cecyle Mallow Smith. He married Elizabeth Wilson on March 2, 1935, at Clinton. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia A. Roelfs of St. Joseph; two sons, Donald L. Smith of Urbana and James E. Smith of Broomfield, Colo.; a brother, Philip A. Smith of Dadeville, Ala.; a sister, Betty M. Smith of Fayetteville, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was a farmer in Champaign County. He graduated from Urbana High School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Urbana and the Champaign County Farm Bureau. He was a former Urbana Township supervisor and a former trustee of Mount Olive Cemetery.
