He moved to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and settled there with his family. On January 22, 1779 he purchased 100 acres on Stewart’s Fork in a place called The Big Bend. In 1793, he purchased 60 acres on the waters of Twelve Mile Creek. The 1790 Census listed his family as 1-1-2. They also left the state by 1800.294
