In an old MS. diary, still preserved in the Hasbrouck family, it is recorded that Elsie Schoonmaker Hasbrouck "was a woman of tall stature, good features (but a spare face, not broad), dark-blue eyes, brown hair." Her funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Maurice Goetchius, from Ecclesiastes, Chapt. 7, v. 2.188, "The Schoonmaker Family of Ulster Co., N.Y." by Thomas G. Evans, pp 22-26, Jan. 1888
