Wybrandt Swartwout, probably the eldest of the three brothers, may have been the first to marry. In 1629, Wybrandt engaged in wholesale tobacco business, on the Keizergracht, at Amsterdam, with his brothers Tomys and herman. On May 16, 1631, he sold a house called the Black Horse (‘t Swarte Pacrd) standing on the Keizergracht between the Brouwersgracht and Greeland warehouses and bought one called the Gilded Star, standing on the Goudloemsgracht. On 7/1/1645, he sold for 118 florins a plat of ground with some structures on it in an alley near Goudbloemsgracht. On 6/30/1650, he sold for 3500 florins his residence on Wagon Square, near the Harlem gate, standing on the west wide of his brother Herman’s home.204
