106 "A new boat is being built at Cincinnati for Capt. David Rudd to run on the St. Louis and New Orleans trade. She will be of the following dimensions vis: Extreme length of hull, 220 ft; width of beam 37 ft; depth of hold 7 ft 3 in. She is to have three or four five-flued boilers and the other machinery of the steamer, "Concordia". She will be exclusively a freight boat, with accomodations for above deck passengers only. Her owners are Capt. Rudd, a St. Louis firm, and a party at Keokuk. Her cost will be $40,000.
107 The last record of David is found in Keokuk in January 1852. David and Johnson evidently had a large warehouse and ran packets from there to St. Louis. Records include several notices and papers of schedules, practices, etc. They also seem to have had some difficulties there - several lawsuits, filed by them and against them. He and Johnson lost a block in Keokuk - Sheriff sale, not a large sum against it. Johnson also lost a 160-acre farm, for a quite small indebtedness.
Died of Yellow Fever onboard his boat, the "Henry Chauteau" in St. Louis, MO at 20 minutes past 8:00 P.M.
