Died, in Middletown, Nov. 2d, Mrs. Abigail Rudd, wife of Mr. Baruch Rudd, aged 62 years, who had been an uncommonly faithful companion, mother and grandmother; several of her grand children having lived with her in the same family, the objects of her affections and counsel. In the neighborhood where she resided, she had been universally esteemed as one of the most upright and worthy members of society. She had enjoyed sound health from early life until just before her decease, and had recently passed through, what a kind Providence permits many mothers to do, what a long and distressing sickness of her children, when as lightning from heaven, the messenger came, and soon called her to her rest. She was, while in a high flow of spirits, through prepared, we hope, smitten with “Hemiplegg,” and survived the shock less than one week. “Be ye also ready. In such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh.” She had been a member of the Congregational church between 30 and 40 years, having adorned her profession by a well ordered life and godly conversation. She took great delight in the ordinances of the Gospel, and cherished very strong desires for the prosperity of the cause of Christ. While on her death bed, though she uttered an imploring desire for her friends, as if to admonish them of their obligations, yes, with uncomplaining submission, she expressed her willingness to depart in God’s time.
