Release Notes:

• Release 1.05. General availability release.

• Release 1.06. Following changes were made:
  1. Surnames can now be hyphenated.

  2. Autobot import now removes the character string '</B>' from the query text. WARNING: The intention is to remove this string when it appears spuriously in the Autobots, but it may remove bolding entered by the occasional HTML-aware submitter. Let me know if this becomes a problem.

  3. Added logic on the "Edit surname" screen to prevent setting the alternate for a surname to itself.

  4. Added a home page field to the "Edit county" screen. The value entered in this field will be substituted wherever [[HOMEPAGE]] is found in an HTML section. It's intended purpose is to allow using a common return section for multiple counties with different home page URLs. To use [[HOMEPAGE]], the sample "common return" section could be changed as follows:

     Note that as a temporary fix until version 2.00, this field is being stored with the HTML directory. As a result, the combined number of characters in the HTML directory and the Home page fields must be less than 60.

     To keep the home page field short, you can use just the file name for the home page (eg index.html) if the CCHelper pages and the home page are in the same directory. If the home page is in a directory above the CCHelper pages, you can use ../ to "go up a directory" (eg ../index.html).

  5. Fixed the problem of an extra space substituted wherever [[COUNTYID]] was used.

Upgrading CCHelper:

• Make sure CCHelper is not running.

• Backup your chelper.db file by copying it to another directory on your hard drive. Your cchelper.db file contains all of your CCHhelper queries, researcher, surname and HTML definitions. To prevent losing this data accidently during an upgrade backup this file before you start.

• Download the upgrade file and save it into your CCHelper directory. Your CCHelper directory will be C:\CCH1 unless you specified a different directory when you installed CCHelper

• Upgrades Available:
  • Win95 Version 1.06: Click here to download.

  • Win 3.1 Version 1.06: Click here to download.

• Unzip the zip file you just downloaded.

• The upgrade is installed, and you can run CCHelper.

• If you have problems with the 1.05 release, you may go back to the 1.05 release from the 1.06 release by applying the 1.05 upgrade.

• Note: You may delete the upgrade zip file once you are confident that the application is running.
