In his time, R. Beers Loos was one of the youngest journalists on the West Coast.

He began publication of the Etna Weekly Post on July 2, 1879; a newspaper which

found immediate success.  R. Beers Loos was the father of famed playwright, Anita Loos.

Minerva Loos, eldest daughter of George and Cleopatra Smith and wife of R. Beers Loos,

was the mother of Anita Loos.
