Marguerite Carron nee Dumas (1843- )

Battle of Fish Creek-1885

Gabriel Dumont was down to seven men

The Battle of Fish Creek in poor shape then.

Marguerite Carron learned of his plight

-Summoned Riel to send any man in sight.

Marguerite had a vested interest you see,

Numbers of men shared her family tree.

She and these men were grandchildren to

-Joseph Landry in blood or marriage, so true.

Gabriel and Edouard Dumont- marriage tells,

Napolean Nault – 2nd cousin of Louis Riel,

And Moise Carriere to name just a few,

-Husband Jean Carron and her son, a big two.

Metis battles affect everyone in some way

When it’s family we are guaranteed to pray.

Women help the battles beyond measure.

Good visionary care ties loose ends together.

When Marguerite summoned Riel for men

Certain disaster avoided and Middleton sent.

The bloodshed avoided, in her attentive way

She saved lives in her unique, special way.
